REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. STUDENTS IN THE ULL

 

 

 

 

 

The students accepting the ASKLEPIOS exchange in Telemedicine in the University of La Laguna had to fulfil the following rules and requirements that should signed before being accepted and travel to Canary Islands.

 

1-       During his/her stay the students are under the tutorship and taken care by the team of Telemedicine in the Faculty of Medicine and subsidiary by the ULL and the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine,

2-       The co-responsibility of these tutor-ship oblige them to maintain informed the team of their extra-laboratory activities, particularly if those activities include travelling or exchange of living place. In this case the students are oblige to leave address and phones to the team, and to ask for permission to the ASKLEPIOS tutor in US and to his/her parents, that have to send a letter of consent.

3-       If the student want to take his/her own risks they will sign upon arrival a “letter of responsibility relieve” stating specifically that he/she in an adult age, being totally responsible of his/her life and activities do not want to fulfil the above point 2 requirements and therefore release the University of La Laguna and the team where he/she is working as well as the ASKLEPIOS program of all responsibility.

4-       The student will be permanently tutored by the ASKLEPIOS responsible in the University of origin, The students had to have weekly contact with the responsible of the ASKLEPLIOS project in his/her University who will assure that he/she is not only improving in Telemedicine but that is OK for the remaining issues, and should write a follow up memorandum every Friday. The feed-back of this memorandum if necessary should be received by the responsible of the ASKLEPIOS project in the ULL.

5-       The minim stay of the students for exchange will be 3 weeks and the maximum 2,5 months

6-       The exchange students will have a minimum age and years in the University before being able to be accepted.  Only long cycle student will be accepted and they should had been at least 5 to 6 year in the University.

7-       The type of activities that they will do in the ULL will be exclusively related with Telemedicine, unless the student demand a rotation period in the clinic or in another institution. In this case and during the rotation period the second institution is responsible for the students and therefore those arrangements had to be plan in advance and require to know the rules and demands of the new acceptance institution.  This has to be agreed with the responsible of the ASKLEPIOS project in the University of origin either before or during the students stay in the ULL. The lack of accomplishment of students commitments and agreements with the second institution/department implies the automatic fired out from the project, the immediate detail information to the University of origin and a common decision if the student can continue in the ASKLEPIOS exchange project.

8-       After the period of stay the student could demand a letter signed by the International Faculty of Medicine responsible about his/her activities and improvement in the ULL. Any other requirement letter or certificates from the University of origin had to be informed in advance.

9-       All material elaborated during the students exchange should be left in the ULL and should be sent/facilitate/provide to the University of origin during student stay or upon his/her return back. Use of this material should be agreed between both Universities.  The lack of  fulfil of this requirement will be punished in the University of origin.

After a detail reading of the above statements I, Mr/Ms ……………………………. Asklepios exchange student from the Univesrity of ……………………… in the carreer of ……………………….with …….. years of age, and totally responsible of my decisions, accept the above conditions in order to be able to start the ASKLEPIOS project in the University of La Laguna.
